“While initially written for and dedicated to my late and truly fabulous Great Grandmother, Violet Foster (pictured below), this film honestly found it’s true voice down the line when multiple real-life “Franklins” piped up, having actually lived similar tragic love stories. Most (thankfully) had come out the other end proudly as the gay men they truly are while others still struggle which really stuck with me and prompted me to really make sure this film was made and made with respect towards the individuals who actually spent the decades hiding who they were. It’s because of their silent suffering that we are where we are in LGBTQ rights and I hope this finds each “Eugene” and “Franklin” out there.”
